Join Adam next September for a landscape photography workshop on the spectacular Lizard Peninsula.

The Lizard is one of the most dramatic and wonderfully rugged areas of Cornwall.  Stretching out at the southern tip of the county it is also the most southerly point in mainland Britain; this remoteness gives the area an atmosphere of wildness.  With geology unlike anywhere else in Cornwall the coastline here feels very different to it's often photographed nearby counterpart, the Penwith Peninsula, and makes a wonderful area for coastal photography.

On this tour, Adam will be guiding you to many of the most photogenic coastal locations on the Lizard, as well as some of it's lesser known gems.  Of course, no visit to the Lizard would be complete without photographing its most iconic spots, and we will be spending a good amount of time at Kynance Cove, Mullion Cove and Lizard Point.

Our tour begins mid afternoon on the first day, where after an initial short briefing we will head out to shoot sunset.  For the following two days we will aim to be shooting from sunrise through to sunset, returning to the hotel after sunrise for breakfast before heading out again late morning for the rest of the day.

With a maximum group number of only four participants, our chosen locations will be uncrowded ensuring everybody has access to shoot that special viewpoint.  Adam will encourage you to fully explore each location to find your own viewpoints and compositions, while helping you capture beautiful landscape photographs.

Our tours are aimed at everybody, from beginners looking for advice and encouragement through to experienced photographers wishing only to be guided to locations.  With such a small group, you can be assured of Adam’s attention, support and feedback throughout each location we visit.

Please note: This tour has been classified as requiring a moderate level of fitness.  Some locations will involve walks over cliff top paths of up to 20-30 minutes.

Accommodation

During this workshop we will be based at the Polurrian on the Lizard Hotel.  Set on the cliffs overlooking a beautiful sandy beach, the Polurrian on the Lizard makes a fantastic location to base ourselves for the workshop, with most of our photographic locations easily accessible with a 15 minute drive. Each guest will enjoy single occupancy in a double bedroom with en-suite facilities.  For more information about the hotel please visit the hotel website.

What to Bring

To enable you to get the most out of the workshop please bring the following camera gear:

  • Digital camera, lenses and memory cards
  • Spare batteries
  • Tripod
  • Filters (a set of Kase filters will be available for you to use throughout the workshop should you require them)

Recommendations

"Thank you for the excellent tours this year. Your efforts to get us in the best locations for the conditions were outstanding. Always consulting, always giving options and taking all the group along with the decisions that were made. The weather could have been kinder but I don’t think we missed a location and made an image wherever we went. You are an excellent teacher but you also give people space to try things for themselves."

"We had a wonderful time, weather was kind to us and hopefully some good images. As always your workshops are really enjoyable and much appreciate the planning and care you take and, as with others in the past, cannot fault them at all. Very much looking forward to being on another in future. I need to be more on the ball as they are generally booked up by the time I hear of them."

Chris, Yorkshire Dales Discovery Tour (2023)

"Just a short note to say how much Helen and I enjoyed meeting you on the Aurora Photographic workshop last week. Your presence on the workshop as principal tutor made the trip a complete success. I was particularly impressed with your willingness to help any of the participants, irrespective of their skill level and equally impressive was your patience. It was great to have shared the Icelandic experience with you and I hope that our paths will cross again. "

Neil, Iceland Aurora Workshop

"I must confess as someone who is naturally quite shy, I was a little apprehensive about going out for a whole day 1-2-1 with someone I didn't know. Within minutes of meeting up with Adam, he had put me at ease and I was completely relaxed and looking forward to the day ahead. We had a full itinerary of locations near my home, which at the end of the day even when I knew them I was able to look at with a fresh and more critical eye. Having got a drone for Christmas and having only a vague understanding of how to use it, Adam quickly got me up to speed with all the flight and camera controls. We were both surprised at how capable my drone was, and as a result it was not long before I was literally flying it off a cliff across open water to take pictures looking back at the shore. I am now much more confident using my drone and am really looking forward to exploring new and old locations to use it and see things with a completely different perspective. Do not think twice about booking a workshop with Adam, you will not regret it."
