Somerset Coast & Countryside
It would be fair to say that, from a photographic perspective, Somerset plays second fiddle to neighbouring Devon and Cornwall in the south west. But to disregard Somerset would be to do it a disservice. This rural county really does have something very special to offer landscape photographers, and on this brand new Discovery Tour Adam will guide you to many of it's highlights.
First and foremost, we will spend much of our time shooting the coast, from Burnham on Sea's unique wooden lighthouse, to the incredible geology at Kilve and up to Clevedon Pier, once described as the most beautiful pier in England. Venturing inland, we will head to the Somerset Levels to shoot the ruined church on Burrow Mump as well as the majestic Glastonbury Tor from a variety of viewpoints both near and far. We will also spend some time in both the Quantocks and the Mendip Hills, and visit the natural wonder that is Cheddar Gorge. In September, given calm conditions we will have a good chance of encountering some of these spectacular landmarks surrounded by atmospheric morning mist.
Our tour begins around midday on the first day, where after an initial short briefing we will head out for the rest of the day. Each day thereafter we will aim to be shooting from sunrise through to sunset, returning to the hotel after sunrise for breakfast and some time to relax before heading out for the rest of the day, again returning to our accommodation after sunset.
With a maximum group number of only four participants, our chosen locations will be uncrowded ensuring everybody has access to shoot that special viewpoint. Adam will encourage you to fully explore each location to find your own viewpoints and compositions, while helping you capture beautiful landscape photographs.
Our tours are aimed at everybody, from beginners looking for advice and encouragement through to experienced photographers wishing only to be guided to locations. With such a small group, you can be assured of Adam’s attention, support and feedback throughout each location we visit.
Please note: This tour requires a moderate level of fitness. Although most locations can be acccessed via short walks, some locations require walks of up to 30 minutes.
Accommodation
Our base on this Discovery Tour will be the 18th Century Bower Inn on the outskirts of Bridgwater. You will enjoy single occupancy of a boutique double room, individually decorated in a modern, country style. For more information on the hotel please visit their website.
