Join Adam in the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, formerly known as the Brecon Beacons, for a 3 day Discovery Tour.  Bannau Brycheiniog is an area that Adam knows very well, having photographed the national park throughout four seasons for a coffee table book published in 2010.

On this tour, we will prioritise the beautiful rolling countryside, mountains and lakes on the eastern side of the national park, while also venturing over to explore the renowned waterfall area near Ystradfellte.   As well as shooting the popular landscape photography locations such as Llangorse Lake and the Llangattock Escarpment, Adam will also guide you to many of the national park's lesser known vistas. With the possibility of morning mist, seasonal colours, elegant waterfalls and rich autumnal light Bannau Brycheiniog is at its best during Autumn, while the shorter day length means we don't have such early starts and late finishes.

Our tour begins at midday on the first day, where after an initial short briefing we will head out for the rest of the day.  For the following two days we will aim to be shooting from sunrise through to sunset, returning to the hotel after sunrise for breakfast before heading out again late morning for the rest of the day.

With a maximum group number of only four participants, our chosen locations will be uncrowded ensuring everybody has access to shoot that special viewpoint.  Adam will encourage you to fully explore each location to find your own viewpoints and compositions, while helping you capture beautiful landscape photographs.

Our tours are aimed at everybody, from beginners looking for advice and encouragement through to experienced photographers wishing only to be guided to locations.  With such a small group, you can be assured of Adam’s attention, support and feedback throughout each location we visit.

Please note: This tour has been classified as requiring a moderate level of fitness.  Being a mountain area, several locations require uphill walks to reach the best viewpoints.  While steep in some places, the locations we will shoot from involve walks of no more than 20-30 minutes at most.

Accommodation

During this workshop, we will be based based at the Manor Hotel in Crickhowell.  Situated on the edge of the charming and elegant market town of Crickhowell, the family-owned Manor Hotel boasts unparalleled views of the surrounding valley and the ancient fortress of Table Mountain.  Each guest will enjoy single occupancy in a double bedroom with en-suite facilities.  For more information about the hotel please visit the hotel website.

What to Bring

To enable you to get the most out of the workshop please bring the following camera gear:

  • Digital camera, lenses and memory cards
  • Spare batteries (charged up!)
  • Tripod
  • Filters (a set of Kase filters will be available for you to use throughout the workshop should you require them)

Recommendations

"Adam, you are extremely gifted and a wonderful teacher and communicator. Thanks for leading us through those difficult weather conditions so positively."

Gillian, Faroe Islands Workshop

"I must confess as someone who is naturally quite shy, I was a little apprehensive about going out for a whole day 1-2-1 with someone I didn't know. Within minutes of meeting up with Adam, he had put me at ease and I was completely relaxed and looking forward to the day ahead. We had a full itinerary of locations near my home, which at the end of the day even when I knew them I was able to look at with a fresh and more critical eye. Having got a drone for Christmas and having only a vague understanding of how to use it, Adam quickly got me up to speed with all the flight and camera controls. We were both surprised at how capable my drone was, and as a result it was not long before I was literally flying it off a cliff across open water to take pictures looking back at the shore. I am now much more confident using my drone and am really looking forward to exploring new and old locations to use it and see things with a completely different perspective. Do not think twice about booking a workshop with Adam, you will not regret it."

John, 1-2-1 Drone Tuition Day

"Adam Burton is a great photographer and a great communicator. He didn't bamboozle me with jargon and unnecessary technicalities - we just got down to the nitty gritty of taking a good photograph. The day just flew by which is always a good sign in my book. The day was very informative, hugely enjoyable and I learnt a great deal. All I have to do now is remember everything we covered and put it into practice. Perhaps easier said than done!"

Jonathan, 1-2-1 Tuition Day

"As you know, I said that I hope to get one photo per day that I regard as "great". Well, on this workshop, I have achieved one photo every location we stopped in. That's 13 "great" shots for me. That's down to your knowledge, experience and guidance at each location. This is one of the best workshops I have attended and that's down to you. Your coaching and support was great. Just watching you create your own images was educational. I will definitely try to attend some of your other workshops."
