South East Cornwall

Fully Booked

Our South East Cornwall Discovery Tour promises to be a trip bursting full of photographic variety.  Just across the River Tamar from neighbouring Devon, the south east region of Cornwall is an area rich in possibilities for photographers.  All of the ingredients that make the Cornish coastline so special can be found here in abundance; from idyllic fishing villages, to sweeping sandy beaches and secret coves.  Heading further inland, the beautiful rolling greens of the countryside are broken by the peaceful waters of meandering rivers and estuaries, while to the north Bodmin Moor rises majestically above the landscape.

On this tour, we will be photographing a little of everything that makes this area so special.  Our journey will take us onto the high moorland, where we will photograph some of the south west’s most majestic granite tors, as well as its fascinating megalithic remains.  Afterwards, we will venture deep into wooded valleys to photograph rushing rivers surrounded by fresh spring foliage.  Next we will head to the coast to photograph beautiful beaches, as well as a couple of Cornwall’s most picturesque coastal villages in Polperro and Looe.  If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, we’ll throw in a little architectural interest with visits to photograph the Tamar Bridge and one of the region’s fabulous Victorian railway viaducts.

With the long daylight hours in May, we will switch to our summer Discovery Tour format, offering 3 nights accommodation.  We will meet on the first evening for dinner and to discuss the plan for the days ahead.  For the next two days we will shoot sunrise through to sunset, with a few hours after breakfast each morning to catch some rest.  On the final day we will shoot sunrise and then finish after breakfast, allowing plenty of time to check out and take a leisurely drive home.

With a maximum group number of only four participants, our chosen locations will be uncrowded ensuring everybody has access to shoot that special viewpoint.  Adam will encourage you to fully explore each location to find your own viewpoints and compositions, while helping you capture beautiful landscape photographs.

Our tours are aimed at everybody, from beginners looking for advice and encouragement through to experienced photographers wishing only to be guided to locations.  With such a small group, you can be assured of Adam’s attention, support and feedback throughout each location we visit.

Please note: This tour requires a moderate level of fitness.  Although most locations can be acccessed via easy short walks, several locations require walks of up to 30 minutes, of which some will be uphill.

Throughout this tour our base will be the beautiful Inn on the Shore in the coastal village of Downderry.  The hotel is situated right alongside the shoreline on Downderry beach, offering unbroken views out to sea.  You will enjoy single occupancy of a beautiful, modern double en-suite bedroom, with sea views.  For more information on the hotel please visit their website here.
