This crescent shaped collection of shells and pebbles has been shaped by the movement of the waves lapping onto the beach. Without the wooden groynes that feature all along this sandy coast, the pebbles, shells and sand would be eroded away in stormy weather. Luckily these groynes not only provide effective sea defences but equally effective photographic subjects for coastal photographers.
