The Windy Summit
Langdale Pikes, Lake District
Ref: BB049907
Gallery: Lake District
Looking back at this picture now I could almost allow myself to think that this was a pleasant calm, sunny autumnal morning spent on the mountaintops surrounding the Langdale Valley. The reality was that it was bitterly cold, and tremendously windy, so much so that I had no choice but to splay the tripod very low and very wide to try and reduce any wind vibration. Furthermore, the gorgeous early sunlight was in reality quite reluctant to show itself, and when it did was too impatient to hang around for more than a few seconds. Through a good deal of perseverance I managed to capture both the foreground and mountain top in sunlight, and as a bonus also caught a cold for my troubles!
