The Jurassic Coast
Durdle Door, Dorset
Ref: AB010038
Gallery: Dorset
The headland at Durdle Door consists of Portland Limestone which has slowly eroded into a natural arch. Behind the arch the weaker rocks have eroded more rapidly, creating the beaches of Durdle Door and Man O War Cove. In time, the Durdle Door headland will become an island as the non-stop erosion process merges the two beaches together.
