My first photographic trip to Northumberland was in fact a getaway with my wife to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.  I brought the camera along, hoping to capture one or two locations along the way.  Unfortunately the weather wasn’t going to play along; on the first evening I attempted pretty unsuccessfully to photographic the coast in gale force conditions.  Feeling inspired by the fantastic coastline, and determined not to be put off by the weather I returned for sunrise the next morning, only to encounter more of the same. 

I grew more resolute as the days wore on, being out every single sunrise and sunset, ready for a glimpse of the sun that was not prepared to show itself.  On the final day I was again in position when the clouds gradually dispersed and the sun rose over the horizon.  It was a spectacular site and well worth all the effort involved.  Luckily for me my wife was in agreement!
