Hallowed Ground
Knowlton, Dorset

Gallery: Dorset
A beautiful frosty winter’s morning beside the 14th Century ruins of Knowlton Church in Dorset. The church is situated in the middle of a bronze age pagan earth circle, forming one of several circles collectively known as Knowlton Rings. Long before falling into ruin, the church was part of the once thriving village of Knowlton. In 1485, the population was devastated by the Black Death and nothing of the village remains now other than a few foundations in a farmer’s field.
