The initial things that drew me to photograph this subject were the gulls resting on the flooded fence poles. I set up as quickly and quietly as I could, hoping the birds would stay still on the poles long enough for me to include them in my photograph. How ironic then that when I noticed the flock of geese (maybe?!) my objective immediately and suddenly changed from capturing stationary birds to the exact opposite; moving ones. I am very grateful to the gulls for enabling me to be in position and ready to capture the flock passing over the misty lake as they undoubtedly complete the picture.
