This was taken on a typically moody Highlands morning on Loch Leven.  I had been staying in the hotel just down the road in Kinlochleven, hoping for a special sunrise to photograph from the edge of the loch.  The morning turned out to be overcast and rainy, but somehow in the Highlands that is not often a problem; the weather can accentuate the rugged scenery.  I had tried various compositions from here on the shore, including at one point taking off my shoes and socks, rolling my trousers up to my thighs and wading into the freezing cold water!  This shot was taken from the comfort of dry land however, and turned out to be the best of that morning; I really love how the eye is drawn to that ‘floating’ boulder.
