As I headed out into the New Forest on this summer morning I was greeted with an exceptionally heavy mist over the heathland. I knew this dead tree well from previous trips to this location and, deciding its shape would make an ideal silhouette I headed off into the mist to find it. Upon finding the tree I composed my shot with the sun directly behind the trunk, while also including the vague outline of the background clump of trees as secondary interest. Finally I clicked the shutter while the mist drenched the scene with atmosphere.
