Call of the Wild
Raddon Hill, Devon

Gallery: Devon
This beautiful windswept tree is a favourite subject of mine; I have photographed it in many conditions but never in snow. So after a heavy snowfall in February 2009 I skidded and slided along the rural country lanes of mid-Devon, hoping that I could make it to this tree in time for sunset. The sunset didn’t prove to be very exciting, but that didn’t matter. The faintest pastel sky colours were enough to form a pleasing but not overpowering background to the little tree, which always was going to be the star of the image.
