I headed into Salisbury early one Summer morning to look for locations to photograph the cathedral at dawn.  Parking in the city centre, I made my way through the park avoiding drunks and suspicious police officers, looking for a suitable location to capture the cathedral.  But my lack of location planning was soon catching up on me.  I was completely unaware that the grounds of the cathedral are locked behind a big wall at night, and try as I might I couldnt find a suitable vantage point anywhere to set up my camera gear.  Fearing that I would miss the sunrise I raced back to the car and headed out of the city centre, keeping one eye out for vistas of the cathedral.  Fortunately I soon found a spot beside a small lake, and set up my camera just as a spectacular dawn sky was emerging.  The cathedral was by now a long way away but its spire was still very familiar in my composition.  To give the foreground some added interest I tossed a stone into the mirror like lake and clicked the shutter just as the ripples appeared.
