I spent a wonderful birthday morning photographing from the shores of Kaikoura Peninsula, looking back to the mountains of the Seaward Kaikouras. The geology on the rocky shoreline is fascinating around Kaikoura, extremely jagged and very difficult to walk over! I found this circular black stone lying here, looking completely out of place, and so decided to make it a prominent foreground object in my composition.
